Radar-absorbing hybrid nanocomposites
Radar-absorbing materials reduce how much of a radar signal a structure reflects back. This project studied a hybrid laminate built for both strength and radar absorption.
- Carbon and Kevlar fabrics in an epoxy matrix, combining stiffness with impact resistance.
- Graphene oxide added to the epoxy to improve electromagnetic wave absorption.
- PAN nanofiber layers between the plies to address weak interlaminar bonding.
- Laminates were laid up by hand and evaluated for mechanical properties and radar absorption capacity.
